Our History

The Freedom Foundation of Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit organization which was established in 1988 by a group of concerned men and women. In 1989, the Foundation opened the doors of a transition home to assist recovering alcoholic men from age 19 and over. Our mandate has broadened to include individuals addicted to drugs and gambling We frequently find that our clients have multiple addictions.

The Mission of the Freedom Foundation is to provide services that foster recovery fro addictions and develop a positive self-image and self-worth in a secure and caring environment.

A typical stay lasts an average of six to eighteen months. We have housed more than one thousand and forty men since we have opened our doors with a success rate of more than twenty-five percent of residents who have successfully complete all three phases of the program.
